in about 40 million years. I just read this article on the Register, a British tech site I often visit. A giant gas cloud composed of Hydrogen is heading for our Milky Way galaxy. The cloud was discovered in 1963 and named after the astronomer who discovered it. The cloud is known as Smith's cloud (we can assume the astronomer's name was Smith) and I can't wait for it to get here. Actually it will hit somewhere in the outter edge our galaxy in one of the spiral arms. Some great renderings appear on the link below.
