Two Dumb-Asses!

I just saw the PCMatic commercial for the umpteenth time as I was making breakfast for my Son. The one with the yummy little blonde who's sitting and watching "the game" with her Dad when her computer crashes. And what's the first thing she says to her Dad? "Let's go to the store and get another one". WTF is wrong with a generation that wants to throw everything away when it craps out? She doesn't bother to run a "free" virus scan with one of the readily available AV programs or system utilities. Nope, her first response to trouble is to shit-can her computer.

And the Dad in this commercial is the same schmuck whose wife went out for "girls night" in the family BMW a couple of years ago. He's left sitting on the couch with a dumb-ass look on his face while she's out doing who knows what. Male bashing anyone? The poor guy can't win with a wife and daughter like this.

As for PCMatic, it's crippled software. The "free download" version only runs a diagnosis. It repairs next to nothing. And regarding the "free download" - that's all that's free is the download. The program is not. And everything that PCMatic does can be done for free with other programs. And most viruses CAN'T be removed in normal Windows anyway. It's almost mandatory to boot into SAFE MODE to get rid of them. And that's not always a guaranteed fix. The best way to deal with viruses is to not get them in the first place. And the only way to ensure that is to "Ghost" your hard-drive when it's clean and save to another media.

I wouldn't be bitching about this except for the fact that commercials depend on the ignorance of the average consumer. Besides being monumental liars, advertisers are thieves. We work too hard for our dollars to have these shit-stains turn around and try and steal them. And that's what advertising is - a license to steal.

Shit - I hate ads and advertisers! Look what they've done to the internet. But that's another rant for another day.
