??? Nobel Peace Prize ???

Today the Nobel Peace Prize lost the last few shreds of credibility its selection committee may have once had by awarding Barack Hussein Obama this year's Prize. As many other bloggers, including Jammie Wearing Fool have pointed out, Obama had only been President eleven days when the deadline for selection expired. Just how in the world does the selection committee explain that? Have the standards and accomplishments for the Prize dropped so low?

The Nobel committee tried to defend their selection with this lame statement "Very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," the committee said in a citation. Once again - with the leftists of the World it's always about "how they feel" as opposed to something actually tangible.

Surely there has to be another Man or Woman in the world more deserving than a President who's done more to polarize his own country than any other President since Richard Nixon. What was once a prestigious prize has been reduced to being a popularity contest for one's politics.

This selection makes a mockery of the Award. Then again there was the Al Gore, Yassar Arrafat, and Jimmy Carter selections, among others who've won the Prize. Adolph Hitler was also nominated in 1939 so this is nothing new. It's going to be interesting watching the Nobel committee explain their selection process in the coming days. Can you say "spin" on a world-wide basis.

Political Correctness has now engulfed the entire World. I'm surprised Osama Bin Laden didn't make the finals if this is the criteria these days. What a sick and fucked up joke on anyone who has actually contributed to World Peace. This compares to the Neville Chamberlain selection right before WWII. Can anyone see an eerie parallel?

In a related blog post Michelle Malkin speculates on what Obama could possibly do with the Prize money that goes along with his selection. In all fairness to Obama he stated he "didn't deserve the award". But - if President Obama really feels this way he should refuse the award. After all - it's not like he solicited his selection.

Just remember; Jimmy "I Hate America" received one of these political red herrings, too.

According to Nobel's will, the Peace Prize should be awarded "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.

Not seeing any of it

In reply to your comment in the article about Ms. Moncrief becoming conservative, and how 'conservatives never become liberal...it just doesn't happen,' I do know of one such instance. He is on Livejournal as 'mcglk' but the posts in question are at least 4 years old now, very deep in the archives if accessible at all, before a seies of posts chronicling his fight with a cancer. He became disenchanted with the Republicans as being untrue to their own standards and base, and drifted from there to supprting Obama and living in the Bay Area of SF, a move that by itself has radicalised a number of my acquaintances. He's pure lib now, sad.

Angela, I probably shouldn't have used the word "never" because of its totalitarian assumption. Being that I, and quite a few of my friends were in our youth, flaming libs I've been in both camps. Think David Horowitz.

I confess to voting for George McGovern when I first became eligble to vote. I even voted for Bill Clinton in 1992. What really alienated me was the Travelgate scandal early in BC's admin. The blind support of Hillary by the Dems when it was obvious what was going on was the straw that broke the Camel's back.

There are independents in Congress such as Joe Leiberman I would vote for. Also a few conservative Dems such as Jeff Sessions and Zoe Miller. IMHO it's the Democrats that have betrayed their liberal philosophy more so than Repubs with Conservativism.

We hear that Barry Obama has agreed in advance of any "gifts or prizes", they must be shared equally with
his patriarch mentor, Uncle Georgie Soros.

This Snake-Hunter was born in downtown Los Angeles in 1925, when it was a small mexican village, and chinatown was one chop-suey joint just down the road. (I had a '29-'Model A Ford after WWII, and could fix it with pliers. a crescent and two screw-drivers!)
