Reallly, Really, Really Dumb Rant For Today

I often bitch about American advertisers and their sleazy marketing techniques. One consistent thing about marketers is their contempt for the intelligence of the average consumer. In fact, the entire American Marketing process is very much based on the ignorance of the customer base. That being said I'll launch into my rant for today.

Last week Mrs Greasywrench brought home a container of my favorite Dreyers "Peanut Butter Cup" Ice Cream. Since Summer finally arrived here in the Los Angeles area this month (so much for Global Warming) I had the urge for some Ice Cream. After only a couple of bowls of the Dreyers I noticed the container was half empty. WTF! I'm the only one who eats this flavor so I couldn't figure it out. Then I noticed the container was no longer the familiar one half gallon size. They're now one and one half quarts.

I immediately went on the Internet and did a google search and low and behold Dreyers has been doing this for some time. Lots of people have been bitching about this sneaky move by Dreyers. First they downsized the containers to 1.75 quarts and now they're 1.5 quarts. Of course this was done by Dreyers surreptitiously (Surprise).

Being the confrontational fellow I am, I immediately sought out the Dreyers website and fired off a flame to the Suits in charge. Their reply is below. I'm not sure if I read this response correctly but it appears the idiots at Dreyers are claiming the downsized containers doesn't really count as a price increase. What's the latest catch-phrase making the rounds on the web - "don't piss on me and tell me it's raining". Well, as far as I'm concerned the knuckleheads at Dreyers just took a huge leak and aimed it directly at my head.

Only in America would a company make a rationalization this fucking stupid and expect someone to swallow (pun intended) their ridiculous logic. The Dreyers response is below.....

size of our carton from 1.75 quarts to 1.5 quarts.

Marxine is bloviating again. Now she's calling on the Thought Police to "probe" opposing views. From The Hill.com comes this story.

"I want journalists to be all over those rallies and the marches with the birthers and the teabaggers."

"What I'm looking for is the very people who carry the signs who are referring to the policies in very, very strange ways like 'Obamacare' and 'Barry Obamacare with Kennedy,'" she said. "What I've been interested in is hearing from those people that everybody's referring to -- everybody on the Mall, in the rally."

I wonder if anyone in the Lame Stream Media has the guts to ask Marxine to define what she means by a "probe". Does she mean a few simple questions or could it be a political version of "waterboarding". Enquiring minds want to know. The scary thing here is Marxine wants people "probed" because they have the nerve to disagree with her - not because they've broken any laws or engaged in any type of civil disobedience. And yet she has tossed around the word Mcarthyism in the past with reckless abandon.

BTW, the word "probed" brings to mind a visit to the Proctologist, a large gloved hand, and a jar of Vaseline. I wonder how that would work for Marxine? Come to think of it, it might be just what she needs/wants. Now bend over and grab those rather ample cheeks Marxine. Let's see if you enjoy being "probed".

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the First Ammendment is to protect all speech - even unpopular and (according to Marxine) racist views, no matter how ugly they may be. When Hollywood was busy stroking itself about the movie "The People Vs. Larry Flynt" that was exactly the very point they were making. I guess free and unpopular speech is only worth protecting when it comes from the left.

RIP Patrick Swayze

Patrick Swayze died of Pancreatic Cancer today at the age of 57. Patrick starred in one of my all time favorite movies - Red Dawn. Red Dawn was one of the few films in the last couple of generations to portray the U.S.A. as the good guys in a world of many dangers. Hollywood could take a few lessons on patriotism from the Director of Red Dawn, John Milius who also directed another favorite of mine - Big Wednesday.

Patrick Swayze was also the star of The Outsiders, Point Break, Ghost, Dirty Dancing and many other big Hollywood hits. Ironically, Patrick may well be best remembered for the Saturday Night Live clip he did when he danced off against Chris Farley while auditioning for a Chippendale's job. It was hilarious.

RIP Patrick Swayze. I thoroughly enjoyed your movies and will miss your many varied performances.

Marxine "Neanderthal" Waters Does It Again!

Well Marxine Waters has spewed out another gem. During last night's Obama speech on health care she reacted to Joe Wilson's "liar" comment on Obama. She actually had the balls to say "It was just something that nobody had ever witnessed before. We all felt embarrassed." I have a news flash for Marxine Waters - this HAS been witnessed before.

Excuse me Marxine but you aren't/weren't embarrassed by Charlie Rangel or William Jefferson and their creative accounting. Let's throw in William Jefferson Clinton for good measure while we're at it. Clinton getting gobbled in the Oval Office by an intern (sexual harrasment?) didn't seem to offend you. Neither did Clinton's lying to Congress and witholding evidence. Then again, while a Democrat gets a free pass, you refer to Republicans as Neanderthals - hence the morph gif on the upper left.

Were you embarrassed by the Los Angeles rioters in 1992? No you weren't. You actually called their actions "righteous" and referred to the riots as "rebellions" and "uprisings". Being embarrassed by the actions of murderers and thieves is not on your list. It's a ship that has already sailed. But then again the rebels and murderers composed a large part of your constituency. I guess you didn't want to piss off the voters in your district - right Marxine? I suppose one could say you're the Left Coast version of the RevRearend Al Sharpton.

Marxine - You are one of the major embarrassments in Congress with your ignorant statements to Oil Company Executives and your support of Communists such as the Castro Brothers. The next time you go to Cuba to grovel at the feet of Dictators do the U.S.A. a favor and don't come back. You can be very easily replaced. Van Jones - Becked Or Borked?

It's official. Van Jones has resigned from his Green Jobs Czar position. I used the term Borked in reference to the tactics the Democrats used on Robert Bork in 1987 during the confirmation hearings for his SCOTUS (unconfirmed) seat. The term Borked has become a verb in American lexicon. I suggest a new entry - Becked, in honor of radio and Conservative talk show host Glenn Beck.

Glenn Beck bit into Van Jones and held on like a Pit Bull until Jones was forced to resign his Green Jobs Czar position. And how did Glenn Beck accomplish this? He merely used Mr Jones own words and deeds. Mr Jones blamed his troubles on a "smear campaign" but the truth and the racist garbage emanating from Van Jones himself were his undoing.

You Can't Make This Shit Up!

I ran across this article this morning while browsing Yahoo. Have we become this fucking stupid when it comes to common sense? This is breathtakingly ignorant! One would expect to see something like this in a Monty Python sketch.... not in real life.

"No thumbprint, no money, bank tells armless man...

MIAMI (Reuters) – A bank in Florida refused to cash a check for an armless man because he could not provide a thumbprint.

"They looked at my prosthetic hands and the teller said, 'Well, obviously you can't give us a thumbprint'," Steve Valdez told CNN on Wednesday.

But he said the Bank of America Corp branch in downtown Tampa, Florida, still insisted on a thumbprint identification for him to cash a check drawn on his wife's account at the bank, even though he showed them two photo IDs.

In the incident last week, a bank supervisor told Valdez he could only cash the check without a thumbprint if he brought his wife in with him or he opened an account with them.

"I told them I neither wanted an account with them and couldn't bring my wife in because she was nowhere close by," Valdez told CNN.

Bank of America said in a statement cited by CNN: "While the thumbprint is a requirement for those who don't have accounts, the bank should have made accommodations."

Valdez said his treatment by the bank violated the U.S. Americans with Disability Act requiring institutions to provide reasonable accommodation to disabled persons."

Psychics or Psychos? Anecdote To Follow...

The link from Yahoo below points out a scientific fact that television and movies have conveniently ignored for many years. Psychics have never solved a criminal case. Period. I suggest you read the Yahoo article below before it disappears. My point is in the little story below...

About fifteen years ago I was employed in a small shop here in San Pedro working as a tech/shop manager. We had some odd customers and they were often a source of amusement. Think of the great television show Cheers only the setting was in a auto repair facility. Anyway, one day I had a timing belt to replace on a young woman's car. It was a simple job on a Ford Pinto with a four cylinder engine. The customer had nothing better to do so she waited for the car as I did the repair.

As I worked on her car she told me she was employed part time as an "Exotic Dancer" in one of the local strip clubs. She was a bit of an eccentric to say the least. As I worked on her car she also happened to tell me she had Psychic abilities. Now I, Greasywrench, believe in such things about as much as I believe in the Easter Bunny. But not having anything better to do as I worked on her Pinto, I humored her.

After some time listening to her brag about her "powers" she started blathering about Astrology. That's another subject I have no use for. Anyway, she began with the old "what's your sign" bullshit. "I'll bet I can guess" she said. After about ten incorrect guesses in a row she finally (thanks to the law of mathematical averages) hits on the right sign - I'm a Scorpio.

Well what the fuck does she do after finally guessing my sign? She started hopping up and down as if she had a jumping bean suppository up her ass and blathered "I knew it, I knew it". What the hell can you say to someone like that? BTW, in case anyone is wondering what she looked like here's a hint - she is/was a tweaker. I'm talking skinny enough to hula-hoop with a Cheerio. So much for talent.

So, IMHO - Psychics (and Tweakers) are about as useful as Balls on a Priest. Hmmm - maybe I should rephrase that last statement after all the problems the Catholic Church has had with Pedophiles... So what's my point? Click on the link below.

Due to their slobbering love affair with the Democrat Party I don't suppose these little anecdotes about Ted Kennedy will make the network news but there are sites on the net that still give a shit about honest, albeit, not always objective reporting. Channon Christian & Christopher Newsome Update

The first guilty verdict in the Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom slaughter has been handed down. Letalvis Cobbins, the first of four defendants has been found guilty of Murder.

I blogged here last year about these horrible murders and it looks like some measure of justice will finally prevail. Thanks to Michelle Malkin for keeping the faith and posting on the latest news since the Lame Stream Media have chosen to largely ignore this case. Hmmm.... I wonder why? Channon and Christopher are pictured on the upper left.

And, as to be expected, the RevRearend Al Sharpton, the great moral arbitrator of Racial Politics had no comments. I suppose there was no money to be made or no one to shake down for Al Sharpton when it came to this sickening case. Or maybe it's just that he doesn't give a shit about racial injustice when it's a black-on-white crime. Now who's the racist? You decide.

Marxine Waters Bloviates Again

One of South Central Los Angeles's favorite Socialists strikes again. Congresswoman and perennial windbag Marxine Waters called anyone who dares to disagree with her Neanderthals in regards to the Health care bill debate.

Being that Marxine is from a relatively safe district and will probably have to die or retire to lose her Congressional seat she can pretty much say what she wants and not have to worry about consequences. This doesn't say much for the average IQ level of the 35th Congressional district voters considering some of the ridiculous things Marxine has said in the past.

Lets see now....Conservatives against Obamacare have been called "Mobs, Nazis, Rednecks, Thugs, Haters, Functionally Retarded"..... the list is endless. I have a new word the cowards and arrogant politicians in D.C. can call us ---- Voters!

And in 2010 the dismissive and arrogant fools on Capital Hill will learn the true definition of the word Voter.

Television Commercials I Hate

Now that Billy Mays has gone to the great Snake Oil Sales Booth in the sky (RIP Billy) I'll have to bitch about some other TV pitch. Hey - I've got one! It's the Broadview Security System commericals now dominating the airwaves hour after hour.

I'm sure you've seen the Broadview commercials by now. They always feature a poor frightened woman often accompanied by an Angelic little girl. They always seem to get surprised by a burglar just as they're coming home. Talk about bad timing. Seems to me that Broadview has a negative opinion on the lousy timing of Burglars too. Of course the lady featured in the TV pitch immediately calls Broadview Security as opposed to dialing 911 and the Police. WTF! I guess she thinks Broadview can beat the Cops to Suburbia.

Another thing I notice is the assailant is always a Caucasian. Don't we celebrate diversity (see Sonia Sotomayor) in the U.S.? Let's have some other races and ethnicity's attacking this poor frightened woman and her lovely child. I'm sure she'd be honored to be assaulted by a more eclectic mix of perps as opposed to always being picked on by White guys.

I guess there's nothing like being frightened into buying a product by American advertisers. Let's threaten a child. That ought to up the sales and present a healthy and diverse pie chart.

We’re not paid minions of any corporate interest or lobby. Most bloggers working to stop the Obama health-care disaster are like me, writing when they can find the time, because we care about the future of our country. The same is true of the people showing up at town hall meetings, and organizing rallies. Some of us are well-dressed in tailored suits. Others wear jeans and T-shirts. Most of us are dressed in what we wore to work.

Our support for a massive government program does not increase when you tell us we’re not allowed to ask questions about it.

We’re not racists. We’re also not racialists. We don’t think a wise Latina is inherently more qualified to do anything than a wise Asian woman, a wise white woman, or a wise white man. We’re tired of being fed excuses for high government offices staffed by anything but the best people for the job. There are too many high government offices, so we’d like some of Obama’s absurdly incompetent appointees to take their titles with them when they leave. We remember what it was like when we got rid of the Clinton mob, so we’ll be conducting inventories on the contents of those vacated offices, before we turn out the lights and pour cement in the locks.

We don’t like having to fight desperate battles to save our freedom and future from socialist politicians every ten or twenty years. We don’t like having our time wasted with trillion-dollar statist fantasies, when our government is already trillions of dollars in the red. We’re tired of checking the papers each day, to see which group of us has been targeted as enemies of the State. We’re growing impatient waiting for the Democrats to come up with ideas that don’t require their supporters to hate someone. We’ve had our fill of “progressives” who act as if we’re living in 1909, and none of their diseased policies have ever been tried before.

We believe government should be punished for failing to live up to the expectations of its citizens, not the other way around. We don’t think people who destroy thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in market value should get a pass because they meant well. We’ve had enough of dodging a massive State that wants to organize, subsidize, penalize, and divide us. We refuse to pay tithe to a religion we don’t support, including the official State religion of global warming. We demand honesty, humility, and transparency from our public servants, no matter how many elections they’ve won. We won’t settle for making the only important decisions about our futures in the voting booth, once every couple of years.

We don’t blame people for showing up to grab their share of a government handout. We blame the people who stole the money from the rest of us, and put it on the table for them. We don’t think respect for private property ends at a certain income level, or that only some people should be applauded for doing their best to get ahead in life. We believe in the power and righteousness of capitalism, the exchange of goods and services between free people acting in their own best interests. There is no moral substitute for it. Every other scheme for governing human affairs amounts to a few dominating some, to the applause of others. Our freedom is not for sale, and we reserve the right to defend it from theft.

We don’t invest our hopes in the government. It is beneath the dignity of free men and women to spend their days hoping a politician decides to provide for our needs. We face the future, not with passive and helpless “hope”, but with active and dynamic faith in ourselves, and our fellow Americans. We are opposed to a political class that tries to cultivate our hopes by showering us with fear. We don’t trust politicians with our fortunes, much less with our lives. In fact, we don’t trust politicians much at all… but we absolutely require them to trust us.

We do not regard America as the sole country on Earth that should be forbidden from taking pride in its history, traditions, and achievements. We reject the notion that celebrating our traditions is an automatic insult to anyone else. We owe absolutely no apologies to murderous dictators or unelected tyrants, and we care little for their feelings. We believe there are many lessons to be learned from our history, by all the people of the world, and we cannot teach those lessons if we allow ourselves to be shamed into silence. We will never hesitate to call evil by its proper name, or give evil men good reasons to fear us.

Now, if you’ll excuse us, we have a lot of work to do. There’s an election coming up next year."

This Is Why They Shout At Town Halls

Here's an example of why Americans are sick and tired of lying politicians. Taking a favorite tactic from the far-left playbook, Nazi Pelousy dismissed the shouting and protests at the various Town-Hall meetings as the work of Nazis. She claims Swastikas were brought to the protests. I have seen dozens of clips on the various news channels and sources. I've watched YouTube videos and have seen no such thing. Provide some proof of what you just said or STFU Madame Speaker! These aren't Nazis you lying twit. These people are Americans and your dismissive attitude is an outstanding example of why they are angry.
